Half unwilling words of goodbye--
Also wish you the best of what’s out there
And success in all you try.
Your bold demeanor, laughter
And courage to persevere
Have inspired and won me over
In this last year.
You see, I’ll miss you
-- and sorely! -- my dear
Because you were my sunshine
When things felt deary here.
May you keep on doing good
Wherever you go.
And I hope, once in a while,
You’ll remember these days of old.
